At the risk of boring my 8.3 regular readers, I thought I'd post another handful of photos from another great session on the Bald Mountain loop in Sun Valley - again with Brad Mitchell and AJW. With the 6am start, we had the entire mountain pretty much to ourselves top to bottom. With three inches of new ungroomed snow for most of the climb, it was a tougher affair than last week - as evidenced in some of the images.

It looks to me like you are messing up perfectly groomed runs with your footprints. Why? Can't you get your early morning workout in the ungroomed areas?
Anon,
They actually groomed them for us.

I think that looks like a great place to run with a few good friends. You're lucky to have that right out your doorstep.
Does a footprint really mess up a groomed run any more than a ski or snowboard edge? Anon must live in the Wood River Valley and participate in the Misc II banter about who should be on the hill and who shouldn't?
At a place like Sun Valley, where so much is groomed every day, our small footprints - mostly made on Cat tracks - have a nominal impact on the corduroy. On the day the photos were taken, skiers would have been looking for the 3 inches of untracked new anyway.
Love the photos Hank! Hope you keep taking photos and posting them as the season progresses.

I believe ANON is jealous!! I was there on Sat and saw one of you leaving the lodge. I took my ski club from Nampa up there on Sat. and after reading your blog from last Sat, I seriously contemplated bring my running gear! Great photos!
@Pat. It's a good time, and you can't beat the vert to miles ratio, or the views.
@Greg. They don't stand up to your photos, but I really appreciate the feedback. If my knee cooperates, I'll see you at the Pokey 50.
Beautiful photos. Looks like you all had a great run.
Fantastic blog! Very heartfelt and personal…
I’m anthropologist currently doing a little study on the blogging culture, and your blog has a special interest for me. If you don’t mind dropping by my site and maybe participating in the study by answering 5 questions I’d be more that grateful.

If for nothing else, drop by the blog just to take a look...

Hey, it's barely dawn on those photo's!
Yet, I have to confess, with that type of scenery at my back door, I guess I to might be tempted to be coaxed out too to greet that early morning..
